The market is flooded with overproduced, underimagined, thoroughly ordinary vulgar junk, and it's easy to waste your time on an inferior standard of entertainment. But why should you?

This site is dedicated to the discussion and rating of movies. We hope to help you sort out the films worth your time and money from the rest of what lurks in your local cinemaplex or favorite video store. Over countless hours of movie watching we have seen the heights of creativity, the lower depths of garbage, and a whole lot in between. Now we humbly offer our thoughts on the subject, for your enjoyment. We hope to warn you off the overrated, turn you on to the overlooked, and even celebrate a few noble failures. Hopefully your new favorite movie is hiding somewhere close.

Here at the Asylum, we use a simple shorthand rating system to supplement our reviews.
